Hearth Stool - Counter height w/fixed seat. MADE TO ORDER.

Hearth Stools are a line of one-of-a-kind numbered stools, and this is the counter height version with a fixed (non-swivel) seat. The fixed seat has the same through-tenons (tops of legs visible in the seat) as the standard Hearth Stools.

These stools explore the interaction of wood's wild and wily-grained nature with the constraints of form and smooth, cultured, touchable presentation. The seats are generally from one large chunk that is split down the middle and book-matched. The legs are attached with a wedged tenon all the way through the seat and the leg tops can be seen peeking through. They are finished with oil and shellac padded on by hand, with an additional coat of polyurethane on the seat for durability, and they have gripping feet for stability. They are finely wrought woodwork at a more reasonable price than typical furniture pieces of their caliber. Your Made to Order stool will be part of the numbered series.

The pictured wood is Reclaimed Douglas Fir. Also available is Western Walnut, Spalted Maple, and White Oak. Contact me for a custom order if you'd like a different species.

Standard for counter-height stools is 25" tall but I can do any height from 23" to 27" for the same price. The smaller, original Hearth Stools have three legs, these have four, and these stools have a square wood frame footrest at the bottom.

If you have a preference, please specify if you'd prefer the seat to be a full, round uninterrupted circle (similar to the pictured stool) or for the seat to have a live edge detail.
